Key ingredients and substitutions:
You should be able to find all of these simple ingredients at your local grocery store. For the exact measurements refer to the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.
- Lamb chops - the base of this delicious recipe. I personally use pasture raised, grass fed lamb but you can choose any type of lamb chops that you like. I recommend using lamb chops with the bone in for more flavour and tenderness. If you are having trouble finding lamb chops in grocery stores your local butcher should have them.
- Balsamic vinegar - this is used to make the marinade that helps give these succulent lamb chops such a delicious flavour and help tenderize the meat.
- Avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil - either of these neutral oils can be used to make the meat marinade for these chops.
- Herbes de Provence spice blend - one of my favourite seasonings to give this lamb recipe so much flavour! You could also swap this for another spice blend of your choice.
- Sea salt and black pepper - to add just a bit more flavour to these air fried lamb chops.
How to make:
Step one:
Add the oil and vinegar to a baking dish and add the lamb chops. Turn the lamb chops over a few times to coat them on both sides. Sprinkle the lamb chops with the spices until they are coated well. Place the dish in the fridge and allow the lamb chops to marinate for 30-60 minutes.
Step two:
Transfer the lamb chops to your air fryer and cook them for 7-9 minutes at 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Then serve and enjoy!
Top tips:
- Depending on the size of your lamb chops you may need to adjust the cook time slightly. Smaller size lamb chops will take less time.
- You do not need to let the lamb chops get to room temperature before you air fry the lamb chops.
- Every model of air fryer is different, so if you are using a different one you may need to adjust the cooking time.
- For best results make sure you put the lamb chops in a single layer in your air fryer. If they overlap they won't cook properly.
- Be sure to leave some room between each chop in the air fryer so that the hot air has room to circulate and cook the meat properly.
- The lamb chops on the lower rack will take 1-2 extra minutes to cook compared to the ones on the top rack.
- I prefer my lamb chops rare to medium rare, so if you like them more well done you will need to add more cooking time. Just note that the more well done chops will be less tender chops.
- My top tip is to let the lamb chops rest for a couple minutes after you finish cooking them to allow them to absorb the juices and become even more tender!
- You could use the easy marinade for these juicy lamb chops to make other meat dishes such as chicken too!
Variations and add ins:
- To give these delicious air fryer lamb chops a different flavour feel free to add other spices such as garlic powder or onion powder. You could also add fresh herbs to the herb marinade such as fresh rosemary, fresh oregano, fresh garlic cloves or fresh mint.
- Feel free to change up the spices in this lamb chop recipe to give them a different taste. Other fun options include lemon zest or cayenne pepper.
- Instead of balsamic vinegar, try another sweet vinegar such as blueberry vinegar or cherry vinegar to make the delicious marinade for these lamb chops.
- Instead of avocado oil you can use olive oil.
How to serve:
These air fryer lamb loin chops make for an easy weeknight meal, but they are also a great option to serve for guests for special dinner occasions because they are so tasty. You can serve the chops with many different side dishes. Some of my favourites include:
- Easy green beans with slivered almonds
- Honey Glazed Carrots and Parsnips
- Baked sweet potatoes, sweet potato rice or sweet potato fries
- Baked potatoes or French fries
- Healthy Broccoli Salad
- Healthy Potato Salad
How to store:
Store any leftover lamb chops in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Frequently asked questions:
Lamb chops are rare at an internal temperature of 120F, medium rare at 125F, medium at 130F, and well done at 145F or higher. Lamb chops taste best when cooked between rare and medium. If cooked longer they take on a gamey flavour and become more tough and chewy.
