Why you will love this recipe:
- These lamb chops in the air fryer have the most incredible flavour and turn out so juicy and tender. They are never dry or chewy and don't have a gamey flavour.
- Cooking lamb chops has never been easier! These air fried lamb chops take less than 10 minutes to cook, just like easy air fryer Mahi Mahi.
- This simple lamb chop recipe is made with pantry staple ingredients like balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper.
- The clean up is so simple because these lamb chops are cooked in the air fryer so the excess fat just ends up in the air fryer tray which can go right into your dishwasher.
- This lamb chop recipe is healthy, gluten free, paleo, Whole30, keto and low carb friendly just like air fryer chicken wings and air fryer turkey burgers.
Ingredients and substitutions:
- Lamb chops - I recommend using lamb chops with the bone in for more flavour and tenderness. If you are having trouble finding lamb chops in grocery stores your local butcher should have them. I personally use pasture raised, grass fed lamb but you can choose any type of lamb chops that you like.
- Balsamic vinegar - this is used to make the marinade that helps give these lamb chops such a delicious flavour and helps tenderize the meat.
- Avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil - either of these neutral oils can be used to make the meat marinade for these chops.
- Herbes de Provence spice blend - one of my favourite seasonings to give this lamb recipe so much flavour! You could also swap this for another spice blend of your choice.
- Sea salt and ground black pepper - to add just a bit more flavour to these air fried lamb chops.
Recipe variations and add ins:
- To give these lamb chops a different flavour feel free to add other spices such as garlic powder or onion powder. You could also add fresh herbs to the marinade such as fresh rosemary, fresh oregano, fresh garlic cloves or fresh mint.
- Instead of balsamic vinegar, you could try another sweet vinegar such as blueberry vinegar or cherry vinegar to make the marinade for these lamb chops.
How to make air fryer lamb chops:
- Step 1: Add the oil and vinegar to a baking dish and add the lamb chops. Turn the lamb chops over a few times to coat them on both sides. Sprinkle the lamb chops with the spices until they are coated well. Place the dish in the fridge and allow the lamb chops to marinate for 30-60 minutes.
- Step 2: Transfer the lamb chops to your air fryer and cook them for 7-9 minutes at 390 degrees Fahrenheit. Then serve and enjoy!
Top Tips:
- Depending on the size of your lamb chops you may need to adjust the cook time slightly. Smaller size lamb chops will take less time.
- I did not preheat my air fryer for this recipe. If you do preheat it decrease the cook time by 2-3 minutes.
- You do not need to let the lamb chops get to room temperature before you air fry the lamb chops.
- Every model of air fryer is different, so if you are using a different one you may need to adjust the cooking time.
- For best results make sure you put the lamb chops in a single layer in your air fryer. If they overlap they won't cook properly.
- Be sure to leave some room between each chop so that the hot air has room to circulate and cook the meat properly.
- The lamb chops on the lower rack will take 1-2 extra minutes to cook compared to the ones on the top rack.
- I prefer my lamb chops rare to medium rare, so if you like them more well done you will need to add more cooking time. Just note that more well done chops will be less tender.
- Let the lamb chops rest for a couple minutes after you finish cooking them to allow them to absorb the juices and become even more tender!
How to serve:
These air fryer lamb chops are perfect for an easy weeknight meal, but they are also a great option to serve to guests because they are so tasty. You can serve the chops with many different side dishes. Some of my favourites include easy green beans with slivered almonds, honey glazed carrots and parsnips, air fryer baked sweet potatoes, sweet potato rice, gluten-free broccoli salad and loaded potato salad.
Air fryer lamb chops FAQs:
Lamb chops are rare at an internal temperature of 120F, medium rare at 125F, medium at 130F, and well done at 145F or higher. Lamb chops taste best when cooked between rare and medium. If cooked longer they take on a gamey flavour and become more tough and chewy.
Store any leftover lamb chops in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
