These air fryer turkey burgers are such an easy, tasty meal that are ready in just 15 minutes. Made with pantry staples like mayonnaise, bbq sauce and soy sauce these burgers are full of flavour and never dry or boring.

Why you will love this recipe:

    • These turkey burgers in air fryer turn out so juicy and full of flavour. They're never dry or boring. They are easy enough for weeknight meals, but delicious enough to serve to guests too.
    • They are so easy to make and are ready in just 15 minutes.
    • They're made with pantry staples like mayo, bbq sauce and soy sauce, and the clean up is so simple!
    • They use thawed ground turkey but you can easily freeze the patties to cook later too.
    • They are so versatile and if you prefer turkey burgers with no breadcrumbs, just use almond flour instead!
    • If you prefer beef burgers make these air fryer burgers instead!

    Key ingredients and substitutions:

    • Ground turkey - you can use either white or dark meat (so either ground turkey breasts or ground turkey thighs would do).
    • Mayonnaise - easily make your own or use store bought mayo. This is used to add both flavour and moisture to these burgers.
    • BBQ sauce - you can make your own or use your favourite store bought bbq sauce. Another way to add amazing flavour and moisture to these turkey burgers.
    • Soy sauce - to give these burgers a unique flavour and taste. You could swap this for coconut aminos.
    • Spices - salt, pepper, onion powder and garlic powder all combine perfectly to help give these air fried turkey burgers the best taste.
    • Egg - to help bind these turkey burgers so they don't fall apart when you cook them.
    • Bread crumbs - another way to help bind these burgers so they cook perfectly. You could use almond flour or almond meal instead.

    How to make this recipe:

    Step one:

First, add all the ingredients to a large bowl and mix them well.

The ingredients needed to make turkey burgers blended in a bowl with a spoon.

    Step two:

Next, form the mixed ingredients into 4 evenly sized patties. Then use your thumb to put an indent into the centre of each patty.

    Step three:

Lastly, transfer the patties to the tray of your air fryer and cook them for 15 minutes at 360 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Chef's tips:

    • Every model of air fryer is different so you may have to adjust the cooking time depending on the model you use.
    • The burgers on the lower rack will take a couple extra minutes to cook compared to the burgers on the top rack.
    • You can use either white or brown turkey meat for these burgers.
    • If you are finding the turkey burgers sticky and hard to work with a couple tips include: use parchment paper to help form them or you can also refrigerate or freeze the meat for a bit to help it become more firm.
    • To help prevent the burgers keep from shrinking, push your thumb into the middle and create a divot in the centre of the burger patties before cooking them.
    • If food tends to stick to your air fryer trays, give them a spray with avocado oil or another cooking oil before cooking the turkey patties on them.

    Variations and add ins:

    • To cook these turkey burgers from frozen add 3-5 more minutes to the cooking time or thaw the patties in the refrigerator overnight.
    • To make these burgers gluten free: use gluten free bread crumbs or almond flour instead of bread crumbs and use coconut aminos instead of soy sauce.
    • If you prefer turkey burgers with no breadcrumbs, use almond flour instead.
    • To make these burgers paleo and Whole30 compliant: use almond flour instead of bread crumbs, coconut aminos instead of soy sauce and be sure to choose paleo/Whole30 compliant mayonnaise and bbq sauce.

What to serve with turkey burgers:

    • Air Fryer Frozen French Fries
    • Simple Broccoli Salad
    • Air Fryer Frozen Hash Browns
    • Asian Coleslaw
