One of the best things about air fryers is how good they are at cooking foods from frozen including foods like steak, chicken fingers, and French fries, and today I will teach you how to air fry frozen burritos!

Why you will love this cooking method:

    • It's so quick and easy. It only takes 15 minutes to air fry a frozen burrito!
    • The burritos turn out perfectly even though they are cooked from frozen. They are toasted on the outside, yet moist and tender on the inside.
    • You can air fry any type of frozen burritos that you like including frozen breakfast burritos, beef burritos, chicken burritos, bean burritos etc. This means it works for all types of diets including vegan, gluten-free and paleo diets.

If you love air fryer cooking you will love to learn about the health benefits of air frying and the best frozen foods to air fry.

    Ingredient notes:

    • Frozen Burritos - any type of frozen burrito will do. You can either use store-bought or homemade.

How to cook a frozen burrito in an air fryer:

Two frozen burritos on an air fryer tray.
    1. Step 1: Place the frozen burrito or frozen burritos on the tray of your air fryer or in the basket of your air fryer.
A cooked burrito on a plate with a bowl of salsa beside it.
    1. Step 2: Cook the burritos for 15-18 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Let the burritos cool for a minute or two, then enjoy!

    Top tips:

    • Depending on the size of the burritos you are cooking you may have to either increase or decrease the cooking time.
    • Do not overlap the burritos when you cook them. You want them to be in a single layer so they cook properly.
    • I did not preheat my air fryer for this cook method. If you do preheat yours decrease the cook time by 2-3 minutes.
    • If food tends to stick to your air fryer, give the burritos a spray with oil (I recommend avocado oil) before cooking them.
    • If you are using a basket-style air fryer be sure to flip the burritos half way through cooking to ensure that all sides of the burrito cook evenly.

    Serving ideas:

    • Serve the cooked burritos with a side of cashew sour cream or salsa. They would pair perfectly with my mango habanero salsa.
    • I also love serving breakfast burritos with scrambled eggs or air fried sausages.
    • If you made beef burritos or chicken burritos, serve them with a kale apple side salad, chopped veggies or sugar free coleslaw.

Frozen burrito in an air fryer FAQs:

How many burritos can you air fry at one time?

This will depend on the model of air fryer that you have. I can cook up to eight burritos at a time in my air fryer but some models are smaller and may only fit two to four burritos.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

For this air fryer recipe you do not need to preheat your air fryer. If you do preheat it, subtract a few minutes from the cook time.

How do I store leftover burritos?

Store any leftover cooked burritos in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Then reheat them when you're ready to eat them.

How do I reheat burritos in my air fryer?

To reheat a burrito in your air fryer, preheat the air fryer to 325° F and then cook the burrito for 5-7 minutes, until warmed.
