Why you will love this cooking method:

    • Air fried fish sticks turn out so crispy and delicious! Just like deep-fried fish sticks, but with way less oil and way less mess.
    • They are really easy to make and are ready in under 15 minutes just like air fryer scallops, the best air fryer Mahi Mahi and air fryer shrimp.
    • These fish sticks are cooked from frozen, making them even easier to make. Plus the clean up is so simple.
    • Kids love them!

If you are a fan of easy fish recipes you will also love easy blackened cod.

    Ingredient notes:

    • Frozen fish sticks - you can use homemade or store bought fish sticks, whichever you prefer. Any brand of frozen breaded fish sticks will work. If you are gluten-free be sure to use gluten-free fish sticks.
    • Spray oil (this is optional depending on the type of air fryer that you have) - I prefer using avocado oil for this but you can also use olive oil.

How to make air fryer fish sticks:

Frozen fish sticks on an air fryer tray.

Put the frozen fish sticks on the tray or basket of your air fryer and cook them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes.

    Top tips:

    • Every model of air fryer is different so you may have to adjust the cooking times slightly depending on the model that you have.
    • When placing the frozen fish sticks on the trays or basket of your air fryer, put them in a single layer, do not overlap them or they won't cook properly.
    • Depending on the size of the fish sticks you use, you may have to adjust the cook time. For larger fish sticks, add more time. For smaller fish sticks, use less time.
    • For this recipe I do not preheat my air fryer. If you do preheat it subtract 2-3 minutes from the cook time.
    • The fish sticks on the lower rack will take a couple extra minutes to cook compared to the ones on the top rack.
    • If you have a basket style air fryer give the basket a shake half way through the cooking time to ensure all sides of the fish fingers cook evenly.
    • If food tends to stick to your air fryer, spray the basket or trays with a cooking oil such as avocado oil or olive oil before placing the fish sticks on them.
    • If you have a basket style air fryer flip the fish sticks half way through the cooking time.

    Serving ideas:

    • Turn these into fish and chips by serving them with air fryer French fries or air fryer sweet potato fries.
    • Dip them in tartar sauce, cajun garlic butter sauce or healthy honey mustard dipping sauce.
    • Pair them with a salad such as a Caesar salad, healthy broccoli salad, or homemade coleslaw.
    • Squeeze a little lemon juice on the cooked fish sticks before serving them.

    Air fryer fish sticks FAQs:

Can you reheat fish sticks in an air fryer?

Absolutely. To reheat fish sticks in an air fryer after they've been cooked, heat them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 2-4 minutes.

Do I have to preheat my air fryer?

For this recipe you do not need to preheat your air fryer. If you do choose to preheat it, subtract a few minutes of cooking time from these fish sticks.

How should I store any leftover fish sticks?

If you have leftover cooked fish sticks, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

How do I reheat cooked fish sticks?

If you have any leftover fish sticks, simply reheat them in the air fryer for 2-3 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
