Why you will love this cooking method:

    • It is so quick and easy! It only takes 15 minutes to cook sweet potato fries this way. It's way faster than cooking them in an oven (just like making air fryer frozen burritos).
    • These fries turn out perfectly! Nice and crispy on the outside, with a soft and tender inside.
    • Air fried sweet potato fries are a healthier alternative to deep fried sweet potato fries as they are made with no oil.

If you love air fryer fries and potatoes you will also love air fried crispy turnip fries, easy air fryer French fries and air fryer baked sweet potato.

    Ingredient notes:

    • A frozen bag of sweet potato fries - you can use any brand of sweet potato fries that you like including McCain, Alexia and Trader Joe's, or you can also use homemade, frozen fries too.
    • Seasonings - if your fries are not pre-seasoned you can add the seasonings you prefer such as sea salt, seasoning salt, cinnamon, onion powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, cajun seasoning or ground black pepper.

How to make frozen sweet potato fries in an air fryer:

Frozen sweet potato fries on the tray of an air fryer.
    1. Step 1: Put the frozen fries on the trays of your air fryer or in the air fryer basket and cook them for 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, flipping the fries half way through, or shaking the basket half way through to help the fries cook evenly.

    1. Step 2: When the fries have finished cooking, sprinkle them with your favourite seasonings (note: if your fries are pre-seasoned you can skip this step).

    Top tips:

    • For this recipe I do not preheat my air fryer. If you do preheat yours decrease the cook time by a few minutes.
    • Depending on the size of your air fryer, and the size of the bag of sweet potato fries that you buy, you may have to air fry the fries in batches.
    • For the crispiest sweet potato fries leave some space around the fries so the hot air can circulate around the fries and cook them perfectly.
    • If your sweet potato fries are pre-seasoned, don't worry about adding any seasonings. If they are not pre-seasoned, season them however you prefer once they have finished cooking.
    • Serving ideas: you can serve sweet potato fries plain or with your favourite dipping sauce such as ketchup, honey mustard dipping sauce, spicy mayo, or sugar free bbq sauce.

    Frequently asked questions:

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

No you do not. If you do preheat it decrease the cook time by 2-3 minutes.

Should I soak sweet potato fries before air frying?

Nope! There is no need to soak sweet potato fries before cooking them in an air fryer. They will turn out perfectly crisp even if you don't soak them.

    Are sweet potato fries healthy?

How healthy sweet potato fries are will depend on the brand you buy and what they are coated in. The healthiest option would be sweet potato fries that are just plain. But many brands will add oil, seasonings and or sugar so be sure to read labels carefully and pick the brand you feel most comfortable with. You could also easily make your own sweet potato fries and then you have total control over what goes on them!

How do I store leftover sweet potato fries?

Store leftover cooked sweet potato fries in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

How do I reheat leftover sweet potato fries?

You can re-heat sweet potato fries in your air fryer. To do so preheat your air frier to 400 degrees Fahrenheit, then cook the sweet potato fries for 1-2 minutes.
