This is the best chocolate avocado mousse recipe. It's rich and creamy and is so easy to make. It's ready in less than five minutes and you only need five ingredients to make it. This no bake dessert is dairy free, vegan and refined sugar free, and don't worry, it doesn't taste like avocados!

Why you will love this recipe:

    • It tastes incredible! It's rich, smooth, and creamy with the most decadent dark chocolate flavour. The consistency is similar to a chocolate pudding, and don't worry, it doesn't actually taste like avocados!
    • It's so quick and easy to make! With just 5 ingredients it comes together in just a few minutes.
    • This healthy chocolate mousse is refined sugar free, vegan, dairy free, gluten free, and paleo.
    • This mousse can be eaten plain or used as an icing on cakes or cupcakes, just like my dairy-free mascarpone.

If you love chocolate avocado recipes you will also love chocolate avocado torte, avocado chocolate brownies and avocado chocolate popsicles.

The ingredients needed to make a chocolate avocado mousse including avocados, maple syrup, cocoa powder, coconut milk and vanilla extract.
    • Avocados - these make the perfect creamy base for this mousse. And don't worry, you can't taste them! Be sure to use ripe avocados to make this chocolate mousse.
    • Coconut milk - to help make this mousse so creamy and delicious. I recommend using full fat coconut milk to make it extra thick and creamy. Low fat coconut milk is more watery so won't give the mousse the same texture.
    • Cocoa powder - to give this recipe the most rich chocolate flavour. You can use cacao powder instead.
    • Maple syrup or honey - either of these natural sweeteners work to make this raw dessert and keep it refined sugar free. If you are vegan be sure to use maple syrup.

    Recipe variations and add ins:

    • Instead of coconut milk you could use unsweetened cashew milk to make this chocolate avocado mousse.
    • Feel free to add a little salt to this chocolate dessert. The sweet and salty combination is so good!
    • Feel free to double or triple this recipe if you are serving a crowd or icing a cake.

How to make chocolate avocado mousse:

A food processor filled with avocado flesh, cocoa powder, coconut milk and maple syrup.

    Step 1

First, add all the ingredients to your high speed blender or food processor.

    Top tips:

    • Be sure to use ripe avocados to make this creamy mousse.
    • Make sure you blend it will enough so there are no clumps remaining in this mousse.

    How to serve:

You can eat this chocolate avocado mousse right off the spoon like pudding, use it as dessert dip for fruit, or use it as an icing to top cakes, cupcakes, tortes, tarts, or pies.

You can also transfer this mousse into small glass jars and serve it as a parfaits and top them with other ingredients like coconut whipped cream, chocolate chips, coconut flakes, cacao nibs, or chocolate shavings.
