Why you will love this cooking method:

    • The taste! When you cook frozen French fries in an air fryer they turn out perfectly crispy, never soggy.
    • They are so easy to make and are ready in just 15 minutes. It takes way less time than baking fries in the oven - it's the same for air fryer sweet potato fries too!
    • They taste just like deep fried fast food French fries, but are healthier since they are made with less oil.

If you love air fryer fries you will also love air fryer turnip fries, air fryer waffle fries, and air fryer potato wedges.

    Ingredients notes:

    • A bag of frozen French fries - any brand will do including frozen Orieda fries, Mccain fries, Trader Joe's fries and more! I prefer to use unseasoned French fries so that I can add my own seasonings afterwards but feel free to use pre-seasoned frozen fries.
    • Optional seasonings - depending on the French fries you use you may want to add your own seasonings afterwards such as sea salt, ground black pepper, seasoning salt etc.

How to make air fryer frozen French fries:

Frozen French fries on the rack of an air fryer.
    1. Step 1: Place the frozen french fries on the tray or in the basket of your air fryer and cook them for 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit until the fries are golden brown and crispy. If you have a basket style air fryer give the basket a shake half way through the cook time.
French fries in a bowl topped with salt and pepper.
    1. Step 2: Next, transfer the cooked fries to a bowl, spray them with a little oil and then sprinkle them with salt and pepper and toss the fries evenly to coat. Note, if you used pre-seasoned fries you can skip this step.

    Top Tips:

    • I do not pre-heat my air fryer for this recipe. If you do preheat your air fryer, decrease the cooking time by a few minutes.
    • Depending on the size of your air fryer you may not be able to cook the entire bag of frozen French fries at once.
    • Depending on the size of the French fries you use or the thickness of the fries, you may need to adjust the cook time - for larger fries or thicker fries, increase the time, for smaller fries or shoestring fries, decrease the time.
    • You can adjust the cook time depending on how crispy you like your fries. For softer fries, decrease the time. For crispier fries, increase the cooking time.
    • To serve: you can pair these fries with your favourite dipping sauce such as ketchup, ranch dressing, mustard, low sugar bbq sauce, honey mustard sauce, bacon aioli, or sugar free mayonnaise.

Air fryer frozen French fries FAQs:

Do I need to add oil when I cook frozen fries in an air fryer?

That depends on the fries you use. If the fries you have aren't pre-oiled then you will need to add a bit of oil when you cook them.

Do I need to preheat my air fryer?

For this recipe you do not need to preheat your air fryer. If you choose to pre-heat it, subtract a couple minutes of cooking time.

How do I store leftover fries?

If you have leftover cooked fries, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

How do I reheat French fries in my air fryer?

To reheat French fries in an air fryer heat them for 1-2 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
