    easy air fryer recipes

Making frozen waffle fries in an air fryer is the best way to cook them! They turn out nice and crispy, are so easy to make because you cook them from frozen, and they are ready in just a few minutes. You'll never need to order fast food French fries again!

A plate of waffles fries with a side of ketchup.

Why you will love this recipe:

    • These air fryer frozen waffle fries turn out perfectly! Nice and crisp on the outside, yet tender on the inside. Just like fries should be. In fact, you'll never need to order fast food fries again.
    • They're so easy to make because they are cooked from frozen and are ready in under 15 minutes.
    • Since you don't need to deep fry the waffle fries they're a healthier alternative to fast food fries, that taste as good! In addition, you don't have to worry about making a mess of your kitchen with all that oil.
    • Waffle fries are a fun twist on French fries because they have a bit more flavour and texture.

    Ingredients:

    • Frozen waffle fries - you can either use store bought or home-made, frozen waffle fries. Any brand will do including Ore-Ida waffle fries, McCain waffle fries, Alexia waffle fries, Kroger waffle fries, Great Value waffle fries, Cavendish waffle fries and more!

    How to cook:

    Step one:

First, place the frozen waffle fries on the trays of your air fryer and the cook them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 11-14 minutes, swapping the racks half way through.

    Step two - optional:

If the waffle fries you are using are unseasoned, once they are done cooking add your desired seasonings and spices.

If using a basket style air fryer:

Spread the frozen waffle fries out in an even layer in the air fryer basket and cook them at 400°F (205°C) for 10-12 minutes. Be sure to shake and gently stir the fries halfway through cooking. If you like the fries extra crispy you may need to add 1-3 more minutes of cooking time.

    Chef's tips:

    • Every model of air fryer is different, so you may have to adjust the cooking time for this recipe.
    • Depending on the size of the waffle fries you are using you may have to adjust the cooking time.
    • Depending on how crisp you want your fries, you may also have to adjust the cooking times slightly.
    • If food tends to stick to your air fryer, give it a spray with avocado oil or another cooking oil before you cook the fries.
    • Try not to overlap the fries on the trays or in the basket as they won't crisp up as well.
    • If you are cooking more than one batch of waffle fries note that the first batch will take a little longer to cook than the following batches. This is because the air fryer will be pre-heated for the second or third batches.

    Variations and add ins:

    • You can use either pre-made store bought waffle fries, or homemade waffle fries from scratch for this recipe.
    • This method of cooking waffle fries in an air fryer works for either frozen sweet potato waffle fries or frozen white potato waffle fries.
    • If you pre-heat your air fryer, decrease the cooking time by a few minutes.
    • Feel free to season your cooked waffle fries however you like - salt and pepper are my favourite but seasoning salt is another popular option.

    How to store:

If you have leftover cooked waffle fries, store them in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 5 days.

    How to reheat:

To reheat waffle fries in an air fryer, simply reheat them for 1-2 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit in the air fryer to warm them up.

    Frequently asked questions:

What goes well with waffle fries?

I love serving waffle fries with air fried frozen hamburgers, hot dogs, turkey burgers in an air fryer, duck burgers, meatloaf without gluten, or for breakfast with eggs and sausages.

    Are waffle fries healthy?

This really depends on the type of waffle fries you are using. If you make your own from scratch you can keep them healthy by just adding some spices to the potatoes. If you are using pre-made store bought waffle fries you'll want to read the ingredient list to see what they're made from. Try and avoid any crop oils and sugars to keep your waffle fries as healthy as possible.
