- 2 Mahi Mahi fillets (~6 ounces each)
- 3 tablespoon cooking oil (avocado oil or olive oil)
Blackened Seasoning Ingredients
Blackened Seasoning Instructions
Mix together the smoked paprika, dried oregano, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, coconut sugar, cayenne, and dried basil to create the blackened seasoning. Store any unused seasoning in an airtight jar.
Mahi Mahi Instructions
Wash and dry each Mahi Mahi filet with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.
Brush each side of the Mahi Mahi fillets with a little of the cooking oil.
Evenly coat each side of the Mahi Mahi fillets with the blackened seasoning.
Pan Fry Instructions
Place a medium pan or cast iron skillet on the stove on medium heat and add the remaining cooking oil to the pan.
Once the pan is hot, add the seasoned cod fillets and cook for ~3-4 minutes per side, until the fish is cooked through.
Baking Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400 F.
Prepare the fish as you would for the stovetop instructions by coating it in oil and then in the blackened seasoning. Note that you will only need 1 tablespoon of cooking oil if you make it this way.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, transfer the Mahi Mahi to the parchment paper and bake it for 10-12 minutes, until cooked through.
Grilling Instructions
Turn your grill onto high heat and let it come to temperature.
Place the Mahi Mahi fillets on the grill or bbq and cook them for ~3-4 minutes per side, until the fish is cooked through. Let the fish rest for 2-3 minutes, then serve and enjoy!

Preheat your air fryer to 400F.
Prepare the Mahi Mahi by coating it in the oil and the blackened seasoning.
If food tends to stick to your air fryer, give it a spray with cooking oil such as avocado oil before transferring the Mahi Mahi filets to your air fryer. Then cook the fish for 9-10 minutes, until cooked through. Let it rest for a couple minutes before serving.
