Citrus Mint Kombucha Cocktails are the perfect refreshing drink. Easy to make and Whole30 compliant you can serve these cocktails at your next dinner party or event and they are guaranteed to be a hit.

Citrus Mint Kombucha Cocktails. That's what we are sipping on this week. Don't they look delicious?

Can you believe this is the first drink recipe I have posted on the blog? Seriously how have I let that happen? Other than smoothies you won't find any other drink recipes in the archives. Huge fail on my part. But don't worry, I plan on posting drink recipes more regularly from now on. Promise.

I have been craving everything citrus lately which is why I created these Citrus Mint Kombucha Cocktails. They are so refreshing! Plus they have the gut health benefits of added kombucha. For those of you who are new to kombucha, it is sweetened tea that has been fermented with a colony of bacteria. Kombucha has many health benefits including helping the liver with detoxification, helping reduce arthritis pain, improving digestion and gut health and helping boost the immune system. One of my favourite authors, Real Food Renegade has written a great article about kombucha which you can read here.

Kombucha is honestly one of my favourite things. Anyone else? I go through a lot of it. Like a lot. My favourite kind is GTs Original and Gingeraide (and no this post was not sponsored by them). I really should just start making my own. I actually have access to an amazing course that teaches you how. My friend Sarah put it together. You can access it by clicking here as well. I would save so much money if I started making it myself! Seriously so much!

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post last week. Life has been a little crazy. But good crazy! I did my first in person Beautycounter social last weekend! Eek! I must admit that I was a little nervous to do an in-person event but I totally didn't need to be. It was so much fun! And I got to meet such an amazing group of women. Honestly that has become my favourite part of this business. Meeting and connecting with like minded, goal driven, women. Plus the little bit of extra money I've been earning hasn't hurt either...

I have never liked speaking in front of a crowd, but after years and years of mandatory presentations as a resident I have gotten much more comfortable with it. And it turns out it's much easier to talk about something you are passionate about, rather than something you are forced to speak about. Over the last 6 months I have become more and more passionate about educating others about the importance of choosing safe skincare and beauty products. The more I learn, the more and more horrified I become about the lack of regulation in this industry and all the potential health consequences that our skincare products can have. Problems that so many of us are dealing with like cancers, infertility, hormone imbalances, neurological problems and behavioural problems. It makes me so mad that I didn't receive any education around environmental health during my medical training. Such a shame. As a physician I think it's important for me to educate my patients around many aspects of their health, including the impact that their food and environmental exposures can have on them. I don't want to just treat their diseases. I really want to help them heal. Unfortunately, our medical system is really not set up for this. I have very little time to spend talking with patients about nutrition and environmental health. We are too busy putting out fires because by the time someone gets to see me, usually they are pretty sick. If we are ever going to turn our healthcare system around we really do need to start paying more attention to preventative medicine. I just don't know how our broken system is going to make that happen... Sad but true...

But let's move on to these Citrus Mint Kombucha Cocktails shall we? Has anyone else been craving citrus these days? I can't get enough of it! I have been eating grapefruit and oranges almost daily. So I decided it was time to combine them into a drink. A really refreshing and tasty drink. These Citrus Mint Kombucha Cocktails are super easy to make and can be made with or without alcohol. The slight mint flavour combined with the citrus base just goes really well together. And this recipe can be made with, or without alcohol depending on your dietary restrictions. Depending on how you make it this recipe is paleo, Whole 30, gluten free and doesn't have any added sweeteners.

Now I know that alcohol is a controversial topic on the paleo diet. Some paleo authors don't allow any, and some do. I personally drink alcohol occasionally. Although, when I first changed my diet 6 years ago I did completely eliminate alcohol for about 2 years when I was doing the majority of my healing. But eliminating alcohol forever is just no fun. I am a strong believer in balance, and as long as you don't notice any ill effects from the occasional glass of alcohol I say go right ahead! Just make sure you are choosing grain free alcohols if you are trying to follow the paleo diet. And like paleo treats, moderation is key.

Please let me know what you think of this one!

Until next time, happy eating everyone!

And as always I would be thrilled if you followed me on my social media pages on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
