Weekly Workout Challenge: January 20, 2017

Weekly Workout Challenge January 20, 2017.png

The first weekly workout challenge of 2017! Are you excited? You better be! There is almost nothing that makes me happier than a good hard sweaty workout. Anyone else? One simple way to make me go crazy is to deprive me of exercise for a few days.

I wanted to digress from exercise for a second to talk about opportunities. I was watching a video the other day that made this statement: "ignorance on fire is better than brilliance on ice". Those words totally resonated with me. As a classic type A perfectionist I tend to be cautious about things and often won't do something unless I know exactly what to expect, or wouldn't approach someone about something unless I felt 100% confident about what I was going to say. It's a trait I've been trying hard to work on the last couple years. Even if you don't know everything, if you are passionate about something, let that passion shine through. It is often passion and excitement that is more interesting to others anyways. People are drawn to those that give out positive energy. It's just true. So with that little thought in mind, let's get to today's workout shall we?

Weekly Workout Challenge: January 20, 2017

WORKOUT

5 rounds for time:

  • 10 pull-ups (I used a green resistance band for assistance - buy here
  • 10 burpees
  • 10 V-sits with a dumbbell (I used a 10lb dumbbell- buy here)
  • 10 squats with dumbbells (I used two 15lb dumbbells - buy here)
  • 10 spider push-ups
  • 10 jumping lunges

My time: 16:45

Optional Modifications: use a band for the pull-ups (This is what I did as I cannot do 10 strict pull-ups in a row), don't use the dumbbells, do regular push ups instead of spider push-ups or do regular lunges instead of jumping lunges.

As always I would be thrilled if you tried this one! Please post your times and medications below if you do. Remember, the goal is not to see who has the fastest time, but to motivate each other to do better.
